Mile:
0.0: Begin at the edge of the parking lot, on a paved trail which soon parallels Shoreline Drive.
1.4: Paved path enters Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary.
1.5: Turn right onto a short dead-end boardwalk, with a view into the marsh. Turn around and retrace your steps on the paved trail.
1.6: Turn left and walk onto the beach. Head north.
3.1: Near the sailboard concession building, bear right and return to the parking lot.
3.2: Back at the trailhead.

Getting there:
From I 880 in Alameda County, exit Broadway/Alameda (exit 42). Follow the signs for the Webster Tunnel, and when you come above ground again, stay to the left on Constitution Way. Constitution changes to 8th Street at Lincoln Avenue -- proceed on 8th Street to Otis Way and the park entrance on the right. Once past the entrance kiosk, continue to the last parking lot.
