0.0: Begin at the edge of the northern parking lot, on the Bay Area Ridge Trail, following signs for Alpine Pond.
0.4: Junction. Turn right.
0.6: Two quick junctions with trails heading west. Continue straight.
0.8: Junction. Turn right.
1.0: Junction. Turn left.
1.0: Junction. Turn right.
1.1: Junction with dead-end trail. Continue straight.
1.2: Two junctions. Continue straight at both.
1.2: Alpine Pond. When ready, retrace your steps back to the previous junction.
1.3: Junction with Bay Area Ridge Trail. Turn right.
1.8: Junction near rock outcrop. Continue straight.
2.1: Junction, again. Turn right.
2.5: Junction. Turn right.
2.7: Junction with Lambert Creek Trail. Continue straight.
2.7: Junction and Horseshoe Pond. Turn left.
2.9: Handicapped parking lot. Cross the lot and look for the continuation of the Ridge Trail.
3.0: Back at the parking lot.

Getting there:
From Interstate 280 in Santa Clara County, exit Page Mill Road (exit #20). Drive west to the junction with Skyline Boulevard (CA 35). Turn left and drive south about 1 mile, to the preserve entrance on the right side of the road. Park at the north lot (to the right).
