Bay Area Hiker: Matt Davis/Steep Ravine/Dipsea Loop Matt Davis/Steep Ravine/Dipsea Loop, Mount Tamalpais State Park

0.0: Begin your hike on Stinson Beach's Belvedere Avenue, just up the street from the fire station. A few steps past a "wrong way" sign, turn right onto Matt Davis Trail.
0.1: Junction. Bear left to stay on Matt Davis Trail.
0.2: Junction. Turn right to remain on Matt Davis Trail
2.5: Junction with Coastal Trail. Bear right to stay on Matt Davis Trail.
2.7: Junction. Continue straight.
4.2: Junction near Pantoll Road. Bear right, descend and then carefully cross Panoramic Highway. Take a few steps dropping down to the Pantoll Parking lot, then veer right across the upper lot, and look for the signed start of Steep Ravine Trail, off a paved service road.
5.9: First junction with Dipsea Trail. Continue straight on Steep Ravine Trail.
6.0: Dipsea Trail veers off to the right. Follow it. After a few steps, there's another junction. Continue straight.
6.1: Junction. Continue straight on Dipsea Trail.
6.2: Dipsea crosses a fire road. Continue straight.
7.1: Dipsea reaches Panoramic Highway. Carefully cross the road, then pick up the trail on the other side.
7.2: Highway 1. With caution, turn right and walk along the side of the road toward the fire house and Belvedere Avenue.
7.3: Back at roadside parking on Belvedere Avenue.

Getting there:
From US 101 in Marin County, exit CA 1/Mill Valley/Stinson Beach and drive on Shoreline Highway to the junction with Almonte, about 1 mile. Turn left, remaining on Shoreline, and drive about 2.5 miles to the junction with Panoramic Highway. Turn right on Panoramic and drive about 1 mile to the junction with Muir Woods Road; stay straight on Panoramic (right lane). Continue about 7.5 miles (past Pantoll) to the junction with CA 1, just before the town of Stinson Beach. Turn right, drive about 0.2 mile, then turn right (at the fire station) onto Belvedere Avenue. Look for parking on the left side of the road before the "do not enter/wrong way" signs.
