Sorry if it detracts from the photos.
• The North Bay Hikes page was becoming unwieldy with so many numbers on the Marin part of the map. I've created sub-maps of Mount Tamalpais State Park, Marin Headlands, and Marin Municipal Water District. If you don't want to navigate to another page from the North Bay Hikes page, you can still link to the individual hike pages from the left frame. Also, some files have been moved around, so if you encounter a page with broken links/images, try reloading the page. Some search engines cache pages, leading to out-to-date information.
• You are now able to link to Amazon and buy recommended books. I hope no one finds this too obnoxious. Yes, I support independent bookstores, but if you order books at Amazon through Bay Area Hiker, I'll get a percentage of the sale. 05/01/01     It's snake season in the bay area. Keep that in mind if you wander off trail into tall grass. Snakes are more active in warm weather, and may be spotted sunning themselves out in the open. If you encounter a rattlesnake, don't make any sudden moves. They usually only strike in self defense when threatened. Back away slowly and allow the snake to move when its ready. I've seen lots of baby gopher snakes in the last week, but a couple of bay area hikers have reported big rattlesnakes active on and along the trails.
